At the University of Warwick on Thursday 6th July 2023, the Unitemps Franchise Network came together for the Unitemps Annual Conference and Awards 2023.
During the conference, staff across our branches networked and collaborated with one another and took part in a compliance session, focused on Unitemps’ processes and any updates in legislation from the past year. Speaker Jonathan Acott also joined us to give a motivational talk, speaking about his personal journey, the lessons he’s learned throughout his life and how to become the best version of you.
The Unitemps Franchise Network has had another busy year. In the last 12 months, the network placed 39,000 candidates in over 77,000 assignments and paid out £56,000 in wages. Another cause for celebration during the day was that this year it’s the 10th anniversary of Unitemps opening at University College Birmingham!
The network also had the opportunity to meet Anna Wilson, Branch Manager at Heriot-Watt University, the most recent branch to join the network, opening in September 2023.
When asked about the launch of Unitemps Heriot-Watt, Anna said: “A Unitemps branch is going to have a really positive impact on the whole university and on students who are always looking for jobs and opportunities to earn while they learn. With staff, it’s going to be a lot more efficient when hiring temporary members of staff and ease the burden of hiring managers.”
The Unitemps Awards took place in the evening, with staff celebrating their achievements and lots of awards and certificates being handed out to the winners and runners up.
Unitemps at Staffordshire University were proud winners of Branch of the Year 2023. Unitemps at Liverpool John Moores University picked up two awards, with the team winning the Managers Award and their Branch Manager, Marnie Blackman-Cook, winning External Consultant of the Year.
Jade Rumbelow, Recruitment Consultant at Unitemps UCL, won Internal Consultant of the Year. Commenting on her win, Jade said: “I am grateful to have won Internal Consultant of the Year. It is a testament to not only mine but the team’s hard work, dedication, and commitment.”
Congratulations to the teams and staff members who won awards throughout the night! Unitemps at Nottingham Trent University won the Compliance Award, Violeta Savic from Unitemps at University College Birmingham received the award for Support Person of the Year, Chris Adams from Unitemps Head Office was awarded Head Office Support Person of the Year, and Colin Redpath from Unitemps at University of Northampton won the Newcomer of the Year award.
Zara Smyth, Unitemps Franchise Relationship Manager, said: “It has been a fantastic year for the Unitemps network, and the Unitemps Conference gave us a chance to bring everyone together to celebrate. With so many new staff members joining Unitemps over the last year as the teams have expanded, the conference allows a great opportunity for those working across different Unitemps universities to network, share best practice and collaborate.
“On behalf of the Unitemps Franchise Team, I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone across our Unitemps branches for all of their continued hard work over the last 12 months, and congratulations to all our nominees, runners up and winners from this year’s Unitemps Awards – there were some fantastic nominations this year!”
